At the ‘FIRST Technical Colloquium 2019’ workshop Assistant Undersecretary for Cyber Security Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), Engineer Khalid Sadiq Al Hashimi stated that Qatar is paying attention to its vital IT infrastructure and cybersecurity because of growing reliance on internet and Information and communications technology (ICT). The workshop is a two days event, and it is attended by international and regional cybersecurity experts. Al Hashimi addressed the emerging and current cyber threats, along with Qatar’s effort to face these inevitable challenges. National Cybersecurity Strategy was developed by the National Information Security Committee to address issues and provide governance during the time of crisis.
Al Hashimi furthermore stated that all the strategies needed to counter cyber threats could be done by cooperation, timely sharing of information and action. Along with that Refinement and development of skills for cadres will be provided in the field of cybersecurity. To achieve its goals, the MOTC organizes a national cybersecurity exercise annually. December 18 is celebrated as Qatar National Day, and on this occasion, every sector in the country celebrates in its own way. The cybersecurity department organizes events and exercises to promote solidarity and loyalty. The readiness of the cybersecurity is raised by empowering the workforce.
