Elizabeth Warren's ads removed on Facebook, restored later

Elizabeth Warren is all set to break the giant tech companies including Facebook, Amazon, and Google if she’s elected President next year. As the calls for antitrust action against these tech giants have been increasing, Elizabeth Warren’s proposal comes in as one of the most stringent. Only now, Facebook has removed her advertisements on its platform.

Advertisements regarding Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign were removed citing that it violated Facebook’s policy against the use of its corporate logo. “This ad was taken down because it goes against Facebook’s advertising policies,” the space read. The ads were targeting companies like Google, Amazon, and Facebook itself. “We all use them. But in their rise to power, they’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor,” the ad showed.

Point proven

The digital marketing campaigns were however restored later. A Facebook spokesperson said, “We removed the ads because they violated our policies against use of our corporate logo. In the interest of allowing robust debate, we are restoring the ads.”

Removing the ads was one way of proving Warren’s point. “Curious why I think FB has too much power? Let’s start with their ability to shut down debate over whether FB has too much power,” she tweeted. “Thanks for restoring my posts. But I want a social media marketplace that isn’t dominated by a single censor.”
