Samsung is taking an initiative to help save the environment. Samsung will soon replace its packaging material from plastic to something that’s environmentally sustainable. The South Korean tech giant announced that the mold used for its phones, tablets and wearables will be made from eco-friendly material henceforth.
At present, plastic is used for packaging and also for accessory bags. Now, it’ll be switching to eco-friendly material. Additionally, Samsung will also redesign its phone chargers to reduce the plastic usage. You will soon see the chargers with a matte finish rather than the glossy exterior it is right now. Samsung is concerned about “society’s environmental issues such as resource depletion and plastic wastes,” said Gyeong-bin Jeon, the head of Global Customer Satisfaction Center at Samsung.
Apart from mobile devices, Samsung’s other electronic home appliances and IT services like smart home gadgets will also have a packaging makeover. No more plastic bags for TVs, air conditioners, washing machines, etc. Instead, Samsung will pack them with bio-plastics and recycled materials, where all of these new materials will come from non-fossil fuel resource.
The company will also switch its paper that’s certified by global environmental organizations for all its instructional manuals. With these environmentally conscious steps, Samsung vouches to use 500 thousand tons of recycled plastics and to collect 7.5 tons of discarded products by 2030. It is a path towards green technology!
