APCON: Networking and Security Solutions you can rely on

The sheer volume of data carried by enterprises, schools, and healthcare is growing all the time. These types of overwhelming situations are becoming somewhat common for the IT, network and the security teams, as keeping up with the rapidly growing network speeds in such scenarios put significant pressure on the network performance. This is a highly complex problem to deal with and requires some specialized skill. APCON, a company based out of Wilsonville, Oregon has dealt with and managed such network visibility issues for well over two decades now.

Founded in 1993, APCON with its expertise and the extensive experience in network visibility and security solutions has been the company many of the Fortune 1000 companies have looked to for assistance. APCON’s exceptional product quality and responsive customer service have helped it stick around in a highly competitive space. In the time since its inception, it has grown into an internationally recognized company with a global workforce.

Enthusiastic employees

APCON draws heavily from its employees’ dynamism and zest. The enthusiasm of the employees is what gives a positive spin to their cutting-edge technology. The optimistic attitudes that are carried in the company translate into great lasting relationships between them and their partners. It is this passion that has played a significant role in its growth globally. The employee rigor is probably the x-factor that has helped APCON thrive in the industry.

Helping a university gain visibility

Schools and Colleges across the country are experiencing a rise in expectations from the campus networks. Demands for better performance and higher speeds for both personal and professional computing are on the rise. A school in the south-eastern U.S with similar expectations came to APCON for help.

The university had upgraded the network recently prior to reaching APCON. They had installed 10 Gbps equipment that connected over 200 buildings on the campus. There was a huge wireless network with 2,200 access points on the campus too. All this was supported by two data centers. But as the network was coming online, the university officials realized that there were two major issues with their plans. One, their great network facility needed centralized monitoring capabilities. Two, they wondered how they would keep the new network secure.

The university realized that relying on a crash cart for network monitoring wasn’t their best bet. They turned towards APCON’s IntellaStore II monitoring appliance to address this challenge. By using the IntellaStore II, the university was getting recognized tools that supported over 15 certified security and performance monitoring applications while keeping its investment reasonable. The university also invested in TitanXR, APCON’s management system which gave the school’s engineers a graphical dashboard for centralized monitoring. The engineers could use this to gain insights and predict potential issues.

The school is also a leading entity in the state for an optical network initiative that connects all the leading universities and the state’s supercomputers. The university needs the visibility at remote sites and across the optical network. Hence, the partnership between APCON and the university continues, as the latter gets ready for the future. Such partnerships based on continued trust resonate throughout the company’s portfolio.

Concern for the environment

APCON is one of the few security companies that take corporate responsibility seriously. APCON in its years since inception has always stood for the responsibility we have towards protecting the environment. The company as a benchmark adheres to the EICC Code of Conduct to frame its social and environmental responsibility. The company is compliant with the ISO 14001 environmental policy and works to improve the environment through its continued efforts to save resources and reducing their carbon footprint. Moreover, the company expects and demands that their suppliers subscribe to the same school of thought to contribute to the well-being of the environment.
