Instagram's agenda to become the all-purpose social networking site is becoming visible with its latest feature known as the “Create” mode.
As of now, the primary function of create mode is the “On This Day” option that enables the user to post a feed post in the past of the same date. There’s a dice button to opt different On This Day post and the user may select accordingly and share it as a story.
The motive behind the latest feature is to let users re-use their old content into fresh one-time content, this can turn out to be useful because users may not always be doing something worth sharing every day and this can help uncover some past milestones. Also, the #TBT is quite a trend these days and Instagram hopes the latest feature can add on to that.
“This new mode helps you combine interactive stickers, drawings, and text without needing a photo or video to share . . . On This Day suggests memories and lets you share them via Direct and Stories,” stated an Instagram spokesperson.
The “On This Day” feature is easily accessible as it replaces the Type mode and adds more options for sharing. Users can access this by swiping right at the bottom of the screen from the story's camera. Instagram is adding on its inventory, right from camera shutter modes to the latest “Create” mode to better hold its stance in the social networking space especially because mobile users are more prone to use Instagram than Facebook.
