Cloudflare has released its latest free VPN add-on Warp, for its 184.108.40.206 DNS resolver mobile app for all users. Earlier, Cloudflare had released a version of Warp which couldn’t perform well and with the latest release the internet infrastructure giant hopes to bounce back.
According to Cloudflare, there were “approximately two million people” on the waitlist for the release of Warp. The Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince stated that “It turned out that building a next-generation service to secure consumer mobile connections without slowing them down or burning battery was… harder than we originally thought.”
Warp makes sure that internet traffic from your phone is secure and untraceable. But the latest VPN cannot hide or alter your location.
Cloudflare provides the basic service for free. But for an upgraded version Warp+, a user has to pay $4.99 per month in the US. The company says the cost might vary with regions.
There have always been doubts about how the VPNs work but the process behind the technology is rather simple. VPN connects you to the internet using a smaller, controlled network as an intermediary, usually the VPN provider. By routing the traffic through an encrypted medium, VPN makes it hard for anyone to track you as the outside world can only see you connecting to your VPN. But it is important that you completely trust your VPN service provider as they can easily take a look at what you do.
