Walmart launches ‘Check Out With Me' across hundreds of stores

A new technology is hitting nearly 350 Walmart stores in the US. Walmart announced that it is bringing a new technology where the employees at stores are equipped with mobile devices for checking out customers from the floor.

The retail giant said that these mobile devices will be put into use in Walmart’s ‘Lawn & Garden Center,’ as there is a dire need for such mobile checkout points here. This is because shoppers shopping for gardening items like mulch, soil or flowers had to go inside the physical store to pay for their purchases.

This was quite difficult considering the size and weight of such items. It won’t be a problem anymore with ‘Check Out With Me’ mobile checkouts. Shoppers will be able to pay on the spot with store staff’s help.

Easy Checkouts

The ‘Check Out With Me’ will have the Walmart staff wearing a small carrying case equipped with a Bluetooth receipt printer. The device works as a barcode scanner and comes with a credit card swiping machine for transactions.

“This new option allows people to pay for those items on the spot versus paying in the store then going outside to load the items,” said a Walmart spokesperson. The company also said that it won’t be hiring additional staff for the new service.
