Microsoft announces Office 2019 and ends Microsoft OneNote 2016

Microsoft is all geared up to roll out Office 2019 later this year. The software giant has many new updates regarding the latest version of Office and OneNote. For one, Microsoft is planning to change the way OneNote is bundled.

Currently, OneNote has a desktop version included in Office 2016. Additionally, the app also has a separate Universal Windows App for Windows 10. Now, Microsoft is planning to replace the desktop version of OneNote with the Windows 10 version in Office 2019.

Microsoft also said that the OneNote 2016 will no longer get new features. However, the company promised updates to fix any security issues or bugs until it kills it completely in October 2020. On the other hand, Microsoft has also been gradually improving its OneNote Windows 10 app recently and one can expect newer features. The OneNote on Windows 10 will include features like search for tags; see live previews of Office files within OneNote, and Class Notebook.

Apart from this, the entire Office 2019 version will be a standalone suit that works only on Windows 10. Beware users using an older version of Windows; you may not be able to run the Office 2019. Also, Microsoft is going to create a Mac version of Office 2019. A cloud Office 365 subscription version is also coming up that includes the latest features.
