Samsung buys out a Spanish startup to boost its 5G capabilities

The Barcelona based startup Zhilabs which is known for its AI-based network and service analytics has been acquired by Samsung Electronics to enhance its 5G potential. The Korean tech giant has bought out the startup for an undisclosed amount with full ownership. The acquisition will help Samsung augment its 5G offerings of automation and network analytics to give customers the best experience in the 5G era.

The CEO of Zhilabs Joan Raventos said that “We are delighted to be joining the Samsung Electronics family and adding contribution with our software products and technology to existing end-to-end solutions that the company offers to its customers”. The company will be helping Samsung measure the quality of the 5G networks to help make its service “best-in-class experience.”

5G is touted to be the disruptive technology that the telecom sector is currently looking at. Many companies are racing to be the first one to launch a 5G network and to make history. Samsung is one of the main 5G equipment suppliers for the largest Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom which is aiming to launch its 5G service in the country by December this year.
