Amazon has recently announced the incorporation of an interesting feature to its Echo smart displays – Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8. With this latest feature, people who use Amazon’s Alexa to maintain their grocery list can now add items to the list simply by getting the barcode of the product scanned.
Alexa’s built-in shopping list gets updated by scanning the barcode of the product. The feature helps the user to conveniently add the items running out of stock, to the list. Both the Echo Show displays have built-in speakers and Alexa. The voice command can compensate in case the barcode is missing in any product or if Alexa fails to recognize it.
To scan a barcode of a product, the user just needs to tell Alexa to “scan this to my shopping list.” For this, the user needs to hold the product’s barcode and focus it on the built-in camera. In addition to it, there is an option of voice command which lets the user directly give a command like “Alexa, add tomatoes to my list.”
Apart from this, Alexa witnessed addition of another interesting feature that lets the users set timers, reminders and alarms for a specific Echo device just with the help of a voice command.
