Spark launches another IoT network in New Zealand

The telecom company Spark has switched on its new IoT network in New Zealand. The new network will run on the company’s 4G mobile network. This is Spark’s second IoT network for the country. The new network will enable growth of the country’s overall IoT infrastructure.

The new network will help New Zealand become “smart”- rather “smarter.” The new network will be a key element to help implement smart metering by Landis+Gyr. The Spark M1 IoT Mobile network will facilitate greater coverage and real-time access at low costs.

Michael Stribling, Spark’s Digital Services Lead said in a statement: “By accelerating the availability of networks, we’re making IoT real, and we’re seeing a huge opportunity for New Zealand businesses and communities to leverage this new technology.” Further, he said that M1 is highly secure and ideal for sensors and devices that transfer data at regular intervals.

The M1 network is running on it’s 700 and 1800 MHz bands and will be deployed across the country in the next few months. The network will enable businesses, governmental organizations and cities across New Zealand to become smarter. This will augment New Zealand’s overall growth in the technology sector.
