Ghana’s horticulture industry achieves success through agro tech which advances exports and employment opportunities while encouraging innovation before the 2025 Horticulture Expo.
The horticulture sector of Ghana functions as a foundation for economic expansion while generating employment opportunities and establishing diverse export markets because of advanced agro technical solutions. The horticultural sector is becoming a critical economic contributor to Ghana's GDP and food supply because it produced $3.8 billion in non-traditional exports during 2023.
The horticultural value chains support 1.5 million Ghanaians employment where half of workers are female. Agro tech operates across smallholder farms to modern pack houses through technological developments of cold chain logistics, irrigation systems and greenhouse farming.
Horticulture has great potential for 24-hour productivity since the government supports a 24-hour economy vision. Digital solutions in agriculture technology along with agribusiness leadership by young entrepreneurs create new opportunities for fruit processing and responsible farming while maintaining a continuous flow of economic activity throughout rural areas.
According to Davies Narh Korboe who leads as president at the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters horticulture presents more than export potential because it serves to construct sustainable communities. The President has established June 11–13 as the dates for the Ghana Horticulture Expo 2025 which will be held in Accra to demonstrate sector developments.
Fabrication of agricultural technology serves as Ghana's path toward developing horticultural systems while building an inclusive system for technological-based farming expansion.
