The Malaysian robotics firm and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture unite to drive sustainable farming innovations.
Meraque Group, a leading Malaysian robotics company, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan to revolutionize the nation’s agricultural technology landscape. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Shakhobjon Sharifov, Director of the State Institution, and Razali Ismail, CEO and founder of Meraque. Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Y. Abdurakhmonov, was present to witness this significant moment.
“We are dedicated to creating cutting-edge solutions that will benefit both nations,” said Razali Ismail, emphasizing the partnership’s role in sustainable agricultural growth.
Uzbekistan, with its 4.3 million hectares of farmland, is focusing on expanding its cotton, fruit, and vegetable production. Recognizing this vast potential, Meraque sees the partnership as an opportunity to introduce its expertise in drone and robotic technology to enhance agricultural productivity.
Within three years, Meraque plans to secure a US$4.6 million facility to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing center in Uzbekistan, generating 1,000 jobs and covering 100,000 hectares of farmland. This initiative is expected to contribute over US$13.8 million in value to Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
The collaboration also involves creating a comprehensive drone ecosystem policy, tailored to Uzbekistan’s needs, alongside education and training initiatives. The partnership is set to benefit over 100,000 farmers by driving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability, marking a new era in agrotech for both nations.
