OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle lead $500 billion in AI infrastructure investment declared by President Trump who says it will create jobs and change healthcare.
President Donald Trump rolled out a groundbreaking $500 billion private sector investment in developing artificial intelligence in the U.S. OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle will come together forming a joint venture name Stargate to work on it. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison were among those who announced at the White House on Tuesday.
Trump also stressed the necessity of allowing AI development to happen in the U.S. in trying to stand up to the global competition especially China. It plans to build data centers, with 10 already up in Texas. The project will create more than 100,000 American jobs, executives predict.
AI has the potential to speed the path to curing disease, Ellison said, touting AI’s potential to revolutionize healthcare. Stargate became 'the most important project of this era,' according to Altman, who said he will support the initiative with emergency declarations. In the next few months, further investors are expected to join the project.
