In a seed round, the Dutch company Whispp raised 750,000 euros, or roughly $820,000, to launch its AI-powered real-time assistive speech technology and calling app.
The Dutch firm Whispp launched its artificial intelligence-driven real-time assistive speech technology and calling app by raising 750,000 euros (about $820,000) in a seed round.
According to a press release released by venture capital firm Lumo Labs, which led the seed round, on Tuesday, January 9, Whispp's solutions restore speech to the individual's original, natural voice and are intended for those whose speech has been impaired by stuttering, throat cancer, vocal cord paralysis, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
As per the statement, the company will use the additional funding to enhance its AI products and technologies, introduce its first calling app that is paid for via a subscription, and establish collaborations with leading businesses to enter the European and American markets.
Andy Lürling, founding partner at Lumo Labs, said more than 1% of people worldwide have a speech handicap or a progressive loss of speech.
The release stated that, Castermans' personal experience stuttering as a child served as inspiration for the creation of the device. In 2019, he and Akash Raj Komarlu established Whispp. In 2022, the business concluded a pre-seed round.
According to a September Morgan Stanley report, 94% of healthcare organizations are utilizing AI and/or machine learning in some way. Budgets for health companies are anticipated to increase the amount allotted to these technologies from 5.5% in 2022 to 10.5% in 2024.
