Air Works Group aims to expand its services in response to rising demand in Indian commercial aviation, with a focus on drones, components, and engine maintenance.
Air Works Group, a leading player in aircraft maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO), is expanding its scope to include drone and component services amidst India's burgeoning commercial aviation sector. CEO D. Anand Bhaskar highlighted the sector's growth, driven by fleet expansions and improved airport infrastructure.
Additionally, Bhaskar stated, "With our extensive 27-city network across India, we are well-positioned to capitalize on emerging trends such as drones, VTOLs, and related sectors, including components and logistics."
The company’s strategy focuses on organic growth, with strengths like heavy maintenance, cabin interiors, aircraft finishing, and avionics. New expansions at Hosur and Cochin International Airport, among other recent developments, have increased their operating capacities and received positive feedback from regional carriers in the Middle East and Asia.
In the near future, Air Works plans to expand its impact within the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) following successful initiatives in Nepal. Bhaskar highlighted the necessity of customer-focused growth and value delivery for maintaining momentum and pursuing new opportunities.
Bhaskar admitted that India faces challenges in becoming a competitive MRO hub in comparison to international competitors such as Dubai and Singapore, citing tax advantages and cheaper taxes abroad. He highlighted the capital-intensive nature of MRO businesses, which requires significant investments in infrastructure and specialized labor.
Air Works navigates fluctuating aviation landscapes; its strategic expansions and focus on innovation aim to address changing market demands while maintaining its position in Indian aviation services.
