Juniper Green Energy accelerates Gujarat's renewable energy goals with the commissioning of its 70 MW wind power project.
Juniper Green Energy has successfully commissioned its inaugural wind power project in Gujarat, adding 70 MW to the state's renewable energy capacity. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and logistical constraints, the project's progressive rollout has already made 25.2 MW operational, nearly nine months ahead of the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (COD).
The wind power project has entered into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) at a competitive tariff of ₹2.90 per unit. This collaboration underscores Juniper Green Energy's commitment to providing cost-effective and environmentally sustainable energy solutions to meet the growing demand for clean electricity.
The project is projected to generate approximately 230 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, contributing significantly to Gujarat's renewable energy targets. Moreover, it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 213,055 tonnes per year, further reinforcing the state's commitment to combatting climate change.
With the capacity to power approximately 45,440 households, this initiative highlights Juniper Green Energy's pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy in Gujarat. By delivering clean and affordable energy solutions, the company is not only contributing to the state's sustainable development but also improving the quality of life for thousands of residents.
