Amazon Commits Over $5 Billion to Expand Cloud Services in Taiwan

Amazon is investing $5 billion in Taiwan to add more AWS cloud services which will support the digital transformation in Asia and the region.

Amazon is set to invest $5 billion to develop cloud infrastructure in Taiwan so it can help meet the rising cloud requirements in Asia. Amazon views the new Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region as a major step in improving its cloud services in this part of the world.

According to Reuters, the funds from this investment will boost advanced data centers, making work on connectivity and cloud performance easier and more effective for businesses in Asia. Taiwan’s digital economy is set to improve with the help of this growth.

Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS, said that the new Taipei region gives any business the ability to use AWS’s many services, including AI, analytics and safe storage, while still obeying the local data residency rules.

As cloud computing advances quickly, Amazon’s action means Taiwan becomes the center of digital change across Asia. In its forecast, Statista says the public cloud market in Asia is on track to reach $169.29 billion in 2025 and succeed in climbing to $343.33 billion by 2029.

As a result of this growth, AWS continues to be important in supporting Amazon’s AI needs and ranks as a top player in the global cloud field.
