Amazon Web Services has announced that it will be opening a Latin America Infrastructure location in Colombia. This location is mainly aimed at training 2,000 students in cloud technology. The company has said that it will be collaborating with Colombia’s public technical institute to train students in cloud computing.
This will be AWS’s fourth Edge Location in the continent of South America and will additionally help deliver data, videos, and applications at higher speeds to end-users. Jeffery Kratz, AWS General Public Sector Manager for Latin America, Caribbean and Canada said in a statement that the company was intent on supporting Colombia’s digital infrastructure and help entrepreneurs work on large projects.
“We are excited to continue investing in Latin America’s success,” he told Reuters. “This investment will ensure that customers have the tools and services to continue innovating for a positive user experience.”
Amazon is increasing its presence in Latin America with its latest announcement. Last year in August, Amazon announced its first customer service center in Colombia and said that it would employ around 600 people. The service center will serve the customers in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.
