Digital twins are becoming increasingly important for companies now to create digital replicas of the physical world. To further help companies in this process, Microsoft has announced the general availability of Azure Digital Twins platform.
The platform's availability will provide companies with the necessary capabilities to combine the physical and digital worlds, which allows them to transform business and create breakthrough customer experiences.
The industry-first solution breaks down silos within intelligent environments by combining data from disparate devices and business systems. This will allow companies to track events, simulate possibilities, and help predict future events for specific environments. The platform brings scale, reliability, security, and broad market availability to enable customers to build production-ready solutions.
“The Azure Digital Twins platform was built to simplify and accelerate the creation of IoT connected solutions. With a comprehensive set of capabilities, companies can develop customized, connected solutions with ease,” wrote Sam George, Corporate Vice President, Azure Iot, on the Microsoft blog.
Microsoft has been doing some impressive work in the digital twins space. Earlier this year, Microsoft co-founded the Digitals Twins Consortium in May 2020 in collaboration with other companies. Microsoft is contributing in a big way to best practices and shared digital twin models. The company is also committed to bringing digital twins including DTDL as well as all the different vertical specializations of digital twins across industries into an open ecosystem.
