Google Cloud and Commerzbank Are Expanding Their Collaboration

Google Cloud and Commerzbank are expanding their collaboration which will help the latter move a huge number of its banking applications to the cloud. The move is part of Commerzbank’s strategy, which has been on a journey of digital transformation.

Commerzbank has been increasingly becoming a big cloud technology user as it is looking to introduce new products and better customer experiences to the market. The expanded collaboration with Google Cloud will accelerate the bank’s overall digital transformation.

The latest move to expand the collaboration with Google Cloud through the five-year strategic partnership will help Commerzbank achieve its goal of running 85 percent of its decentralized applications in the cloud by 2024.

“In our new ‘Strategy 2024’, a multicloud approach continues to play a major role. We will benefit from Google Cloud’s extensive capabilities in infrastructure modernization, as well as from its know-how in data analytics and machine learning, as one of the pioneers of this technology. As we move to the cloud, Google Cloud is an important strategic partner,” said JörgHessenmüller, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and member of the Board of Managing Directors of Commerzbank.

Commerzbank has been working with Google Cloud’s technologies since 2017. With this latest expansion of the partnership, Google Cloud will offer a much deeper set of platform services to enable the bank’s digital transformation.
