Google celebrated its Google Cloud launch in Los Angeles with their customers. They announced launch of new services to help the creators of online content to take advantage of the cloud that provides two new services Cloud Filestore and Transfer Appliance along with other services. Cloud Filestore is a managed file storage service for applications that require a file system interface and a shared file system for data. On the other hand, Transfer Appliance is a high capacity storage server that you set up in your data center. You can choose from 100TB or 480TB of raw capacity per appliance to move your data to Google Cloud quickly.
Google is offering Dedicated Interconnect connectivity to its Los Angeles region cloud at two locations: Equnix LA1 and CoreSite LA1. This private network will provide a high-bandwidth, highly reliable, low-latency link to each region across the world, according to Google’s blog post. This will make it easy to deploy global applications via the Google Cloud Load Balancing.
Many of the media and the entertainment companies have welcomed the cloud to LA. “Google Cloud Platform already works seamlessly with our on-premise infrastructure, allowing us to meet increased compute demands. Now, with the LA cloud region, it’s like having a render farm at our doorstep,” said Steve Kowalski, Vice President of Systems Engineering, Sony Pictures Image Works.
