Snowflake is partnering with Nvidia to allow customers from various industries to build AI models using their own data.
On Monday, the two companies announced their collaboration at Snowflake Summit 2023.
According to Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang, moving data to the computer was common practice in the early days of small data computing. But when you have enormous amounts of data, as Snowflake does, along with a wealth of priceless proprietary data, you move the computation to the data.
According to Huang, Nvidia is making an engineering-intensive choice in this instance by integrating its NeMo platform for developing and running generative AI models into the Snowflake Data Cloud.
The partnership comes at a time when ChatGPT, a chatbot, has compelled numerous businesses to determine their AI strategies and has helped Nvidia, which supplies the primary hardware for AI, reach the trillion dollar mark.
This was significant, according to Frank Slootman, chairman and CEO of cloud data analytics company Snowflake, and it was the 40-year wait's final mile. He claimed that every industry was focused on data when discussing its significance in the modern world. Software was once said to be consuming the world. But today, data is devouring software.
Slootman claimed that organizations that use Snowflake to manage their data will now be able to train new AI models using their own data without running the risk of losing control of it.
Although the partnership's financial terms were not made public, Huang claimed that Nvidia would gain as more clients used computing for AI work.
