Oracle has announced its new cloud solution with the retail industry in mind. The retailers will now be able to take advantage of Oracle’s new Retail Xstore Office Cloud service to maintain their back office operations.
Announced at the NRF Big Show, the service will enable retailers to move their Xstore back office store operations to the cloud. This will eliminate the necessity of the data center investments by retailers. The innovation from Oracle will also greatly augment on-premise point-of-service (POS) functions.
Retailers have had troubles until now updating their POS functions which have often hampered their ability to provide dynamic and engaging experiences to their customers. In a statement, Jeff Warren, VP of Oracle Retail said: “By moving Xstore back office to the cloud, customers can benefit from a continuous cadence of innovation that enables them to lower their total cost of ownership through centralized services and store operations.”
He explained that the offering from Cloud will help retailers greatly as retailers often wait five to seven years before considering upgrading their POS. Oracle has also made other improvements to the Retail Xstore by deploying solutions to enhance mobility, RFID integration, and software to support the customer in-store experiences.
