Google Cloud introduces Web3 portal, igniting discussions across the crypto sphere.
In a bid to cater to the growing needs of blockchain developers, Google Cloud has unveiled its latest venture - a Web3 portal offering an array of resources. Among these resources are datasets and tutorials focusing on the creation of nonfungible tokens (NFTs). However, the reception within the cryptocurrency industry has been a mixed bag.
Criticism has arisen from notable figures within the crypto space. Phil Geiger, the vice president of product marketing at Unchained, pointed out what he deemed a glaring omission: the absence of native Bitcoin and lightning support. MartyParty, a pseudonymous crypto trader with a significant following, echoed similar sentiments of disappointment with Google's perceived lag in the Web3 sector.
On the flip side, there has been a chorus of praise for the new Web3 portal. Ivaibi Festo, founder of Mitroplus labs, hailed the initiative as a "comprehensive resource" in a recent post. The portal boasts a learning program featuring tutorials on NFT development, Web3 loyalty program implementation, and the security of digital assets through multi-party computation.
Google's foray into the Web3 arena has been a progression marked by several recent developments. Notably, the tech giant expanded its search features to encompass wallet balances across a multitude of blockchains. This inclusive approach spans various networks, including Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom.
As the crypto community continues to dissect and debate Google Cloud's latest move, one thing remains clear: the intersection of technology and decentralized finance is evolving, and Google is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformative landscape.
