EY Australia has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sydney-based cyber consultancy Aleron. The price of the acquisition was not revealed by either of the companies involved.
Aleron was founded by Mark Wroniak and Alex Morkos. The company excels in cybersecurity strategy, architecture design, and implementation across financial services, retail and government sectors.
The Aleron founders will be joining EY as Partners after the acquisition. They will bring to EY with them 36 staff and contractors from all over Australia. The acquisition will strengthen EY’s position as the largest cybersecurity provider in the professional services sector. Further, the acquisition will also help the firm enhance its capability to deliver end-to-end cyber resilience for clients.
“This acquisition demonstrates our continued growth in digital services where we are already undertaking work in large scale supply chain transformation, blockchain, and intelligent automation,” said Tony Johnson, EY Oceania Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner.
An important part of the acquisition was Aleron’s cybersecurity analytics and risk reporting platform, eDNA, a tool that helps companies view the health of IT systems in real-time. The tool also helps identify where to focus the funds to enhance cybersecurity. EY will look to scale this platform globally.
