Rising AI driven cyber security threats have been warned by HCLTech in its study which urges organisations to reinforce their defenses and rework on their resilience strategies.
The Global Cyber Resilience Study 2024-25 by HCLTech reveals high volume of cyber-attacks driven by AI and highlights the urgency of fighting a cybersecurity awareness and defenses battle. 78% of CISOs predict their organizations will be targeted within a year, but only 48% believe they can prevent attacks.
The study says that 54% of security leaders consider attacks perpetrated through AI as the greatest threat while 76% of the security leaders claimed that they had difficulties going back to normalcy after a cyber-attack. Cyber criminals are thus developing more sophisticated techniques in the form of AI using to steer phishing and ransomware attacks.
Different industries have their own cyber security challenges. Manufacturing leaders are worried about AI-driven attacks potentially causing production disruptions. Healthcare systems collecting sensitive data are at risk of ransomware attacks. Financial services executives are concerned about API hacks impacting their operations.
Also speaking was Jagadeshwar Gattu, the president for digital foundation services in HCLTech who stated on the need for strong digital infrastructure as well as resilience strategies that are all encompassing. He further predicted a rise in cybersecurity budgets by 11% in order to improve compliance and management of risks in real time.
The same sentiments were echoed by Amit Jain, executive vice-president at HCLTech concerning the role of automation and AI in these changing times filled with threats. While organizations utilize resources for cyber security threats, the emphasis should be on identity and access management technologies for the safety of the organization.
