Despite the heavy competition in the market, in the face of heave, threat security companies are now working together to quell the cyber threat that’s right on the horizon. Researches from some of the top security firms in the industry are working together to take down a botnet wreaking havoc in the Android world
Researchers from companies the likes of Akamai, Cloudflare, Flashpoint, Google, Oracle (Dyn), RiskIQ, Team Cymru, and others are working together to take down WireX, an Android based Botnet responsible for several DDoS attacks last month.
"I am pleased to say it went a lot more smoothly than you might expect. The researchers involved have working relationships that pre-date and transcend our current employers, and we all have a cordial working relationship. Competition takes a back seat when we have much bigger issues to deal with,” explained Allison Nixon, the Director of Security Research at Flashpoint.
This isn’t the first time the group namely Akamai, Cloudflare, Flashpoint, Google, Oracle (Dyn), RiskIQ, Team Cymru, have worked together. The group has tackled such situations together before pooling in their resources, knowledge and money turning it into a security power house.
According to the researchers in the group, the malware had no previous coverage that highlighted the occurrence of the DDoS attacks. But also maintained that the analysis that where shared during the work is valuable to the community.
