Salesforce is acquiring Informatica to improve its AI and data analytics solutions and broaden its work in managing and governing metadata.
Salesforce, the US-based SaaS leader, will acquire Informatica, a cloud data management firm, for around $8 billion in equity. The move will make Salesforce’s data analytics tools even stronger by boosting its Agentforce platform powered by AI.
Both Informatica’s and Salesforce’s main services for metadata, master data management and data governance will be merged in the deal. As a result, the industry will see a more complete data analytics platform that supports stronger AI solutions for agents.
Marc Benioff, Salesforce’s CEO, believes the acquisition will help the company succeed in the \$150 billion enterprise data market. After both companies’ boards accepted the transaction, it is expected to close by FY27 and has been approved by 63% of Informatica shareholders.
The company intends to drive new benefits by using Salesforce’s AI and blending it with Informatica’s data analytics technology in healthcare, financial services, life sciences and public sector industries. Steve Fisher, the CTO of Salesforce, said that connecting AI to CRM software will offer a broader understanding of enterprise data needed for fully autonomous AI agents.
The deal shows how Salesforce carefully uses mergers and acquisitions to promote new ideas and become distinct in its industry. The idea is for Salesforce to partner with Informatica’s network and boost its presence in the cloud worldwide.
Almost certainly, the deal will move the company farther in data analytics integration and consolidate its role as a leading provider of AI-driven solutions.
