South Wales and Gwent Police start data analytics programme with Simpson Associates to improve policing, prediction, and safety public in real time.

South Wales and Gwent Police have teamed up with Simpson Associates to deploy the Joint Data Analytics Programme (JDAP), a game changing programme to revolutionise the approach to intelligence led policing and public safety through greater data analytics.

Simpson associates will design and develop a scalable data analytics platform that will integrate real time operational data and provide the law enforcements with timely and proactive insights. The platform will also support the predictive analytics, enhance the allocation of resources and enhance the provision of forecasting and demand planning capabilities.

The heart of the programme is on constructing an integrated, secure infrastructure that will minimize dependence on siloed- data and manual processes. Officers and staff will have self-service access to consolidated accurate data for smarter and faster decision-making.

By proliferation of demand, capacity and capability data, the platform will enable the forces to identify emerging risks and increase response strategies.

JDAP also seeks to create a centralised data office that will be responsible of driving the adoption of analytics across the two police forces. The partnership will serve as an example of data-driven policing and help gets better public safety outcomes, region-wide.

This collaboration is an emerging in the UK law enforcement framework of bringing to use the power of data analytics in implementing effective and proactive community-oriented policing.
