Edtech startup, SplashLearn raised $18 million in Series C funding which was conducted by Owl Ventures, San Francisco-based venture capital company. SplashLearn wants to use this fund to escalate the number of teachers and parents to sign up its customized tutoring product.
“We envision a world where every child would learn, fearlessly. The games within the program aim to shift the current narrative around learning, turning it into an experience that augments the child’s desire to learn by making learning itself rewarding for every child. Thus reducing their fear of failure, and creating what we like to call fearless learners,” the company’s CEO and cofounder Arpit Jain said.
SplashLearn was founded by Joy Deep Nath and Umang Jain, and Arpit, Mayank Jain in 2010. The company provides gamified curriculum-alligned maths learning programme in markets like the UK, US, Canada and Australia. This product is free of cost to schools but will be charged to students, whereas parents can keep a track of what their children are up to and help in their progress.
For now, the platform has 4,000 games that are linked to a child’s curriculum for maths and reading. There is a separate research team to make sure that the games are keeping children engaged as well as learning games.
Jain added by saying, “Over and above our game engine, we have a personalization layer which ensures that every day for a kid, we ensure a 15-20 minute learning path based upon what their current learning level is.”
