A leading provider of engineering services, FEV North America has tested the much-anticipated Lucid Air. They have reportedly followed the standard procedure followed by the EPA and the result was beyond expectations. The organization based in Auburn Hills, Michigan verified an estimated range of 517 miles on a single charge for the Lucid Air.
Lucid Motors had promised that Lucid Air would go past the range of Tesla’s aptly named Tesla Model S Long Range, but with the latest test by FEV North America, it has left the Tesla in the dust. This benchmark makes the Lucid Air the longest-range electric vehicle today.
It is an astounding feat but is yet to be verified by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA). In a time when most EV’s have a range of 200-300 miles on a single charge, Lucid Air seems to be the only true rival of EV giant Tesla.
“I believe that our 900-volt architecture, our race-proven battery packs, miniaturized motors and power electronics, integrated transmission systems, aerodynamics, chassis and thermal systems, software, and overall system efficiency have now reached a stage where they collectively set a new standard and deliver a host of ‘world’s firsts,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid Motors.
The final version of Lucid Air will be launched on September 9, 2020.
