Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple along with Steve Jobs, is launching a new online tech education platform. And he’s calling it Woz U. Woz U is designed to promote technology jobs and the skills required to enter the industry.
The new tech education platform will also be using the tools and resources for interested tech companies to recruit and train their employees. The courses are expected to be from everything that includes software engineering, information technology, mobile app development, cybersecurity, and a whole bunch more!
Wozniak also said that the courses on his platform will be available to students K-12 through partnerships with school districts too.
Eventually, Wozniak aims to expand the initiative to include as many as 30 physical locations around the world over time. The website currently does not provide information whether the courses are free of charge or going to cost something.
In a statement, Wozniak said, “Our goal is to educate and train people in employable digital skills without putting them into years of debt. People often are afraid to choose a technology-based career because they think they can’t do it. I know they can, and I want to show them how. My entire life I have worked to build, develop, and create a better world through technology and I have always respected education. Now is the time for Woz U, and we are only getting started.”
