Dr Pepper is set to release its new flavors, Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut and Creamy Coconut Zero Sugar, in stores on May 1, marking the arrival of summer.
To celebrate the arrival of summer, Dr Pepper will soon be releasing a new flavor in stores. The soft drink manufacturer declared that Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut and Creamy Coconut Zero Sugar beverages will be available in stores on May 1.
The announcement for Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut stated that they combine the best elements of the original 23 Dr Pepper tastes with layers of flavorful tropical coconut and a delectable, creamy finish. The statement also mentioned how well the new drink goes with hot summer days.
The beverages will be available from May through July in 12-packs of 12-fluid-ounce cans and 20-fluid-ounce bottles. The Zero Sugar version is packaged with a brown and light blue theme, while the ordinary version is in a red and light blue can with an image of a coconut on it. Dr Pepper claims that these new beverages are "the only coconut-cream-flavored dark soda on the market" right now.
The new drinks taste a lot like the "dirty sodas" that are popular in Utah. These are typically mixed with soda, cream, and flavored syrup and are served at different restaurants all across the state. For instance, Swig, a drive-through soda fountain chain with multiple locations throughout western states and founded in Utah, serves a variety of coconut-based drinks, including Dr Pepper-based, Pepsi-based, Mountain Dew- and Sprite-based, and its own proprietary version.
