Explore the reintroduction of Laphroaig's iconic 18-year-old and two innovative scotch expressions for 2024.
Laphroaig, famous for its peated single malt Scotch whiskey, has delighted its fans by bringing back its beloved 18-year-old expression after 10 years. The Islay distillery, which is owned by Suntory Global Spirits, has recently introduced two new additions to its extensive line-up, promising unique flavor profiles and expert craftsmanship.
Known for its enhanced tasting experience, Laphroaig 18-year-old single malt has aged for an extra eight years beyond its 10-year counterpart. Rich aromas of leather, seaweed, orange, honey, ginger, and tobacco take the classic Laphroaig smokiness to new heights.
Joining the revival is the annual Cairdeas release for 2024, initially exclusive to the Friends of Laphroaig club before wider availability. Named 'Cask Favorites', this 10-year-old whisky pays homage to previous successful releases by blending maturation techniques from 2019’s Triple Wood and 2021’s PX Cask editions. The result is a complex whisky aged in overcharred ex-bourbon barrels and quarter casks, culminating in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask finish. ABV blends 52.4% of distinctive Laphroaig smokiness and rich flavors of marmalade, ginger, grape candy, spice, dark berries, and caramelized brown sugar.
Elements 2.0, which is the most recent release in Laphroaig's experimental Elements series, is a new addition to the range. This release delves into longer fermentation times, adding fruity undertones while preserving the unique smokiness of the distillery. Slight aromas of green apples, honey, cream soda, and smoked seafood are discovered in the tasting notes. Laphroaig's expressions are all handcrafted with dedication and love, setting standards in the world of peated whiskies.
