Apple unveiled its new augmented reality headset, called the Vision Pro. CEO Tim Cook says it’s the perfect blend of the virtual and real worlds.
In its first major hardware launch in the past 10 years, Apple’s much anticipated augmented reality headset, called the Apple Vision Pro, has been unveiled. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the new addition blends the real and virtual world with ease.
The headset will be available in the US at the beginning of next year for $3,499 (£2,849) and has a two-hour battery life.
During the announcement, which was made at a developer's conference at the company’s headquarters, Apple Park, in Cupertino, California, the share price of the corporation decreased marginally.
Apple Vision Pro has a different appearance from other virtual reality headsets on the market and is more like a pair of ski goggles than a headset.
Through the use of augmented reality, sometimes referred to as mixed reality, Apple stated that they may combine the real world with the virtual world by viewing through a screen.
In a virtual environment, users can write documents, access apps and even watch movies. However, there hasn't been any indication of a sizable demand for this sort of technology.
Tim Cook in his sales pitch, said that the headgear will enable users to interact with digital content like it were actually physically present. He added that you can control it by using your hands, eyes, and voice.
