A reported patent application by Apple describes an Interactive touchscreen that conveys information and audio settings on the AirPods Case.
If you’ve ever missed the feeling of the original iPod, you’re in for a pleasant surprise with Apple’s future plans for their beloved AirPods.
According to the reports from CNET, a patent application was filed in 2021, but published on March 30, 2023 by the US Patent and Trademark Office. It reportedly discussed the idea of making a few changes to the AirPods Case. Apple expressed an interest to create AirPods case that would be able to feature audio settings directly on the case as well offer abilities to convey other information, like pause or play and optimize overall user interface.
The patent filed by Apple showed a touchscreen on the case, which could access notifications from messages, maps navigation, weather information and much more. This will allow users to adjust audio settings easily through the case. Not only would you be able to press pause, play, next, but also access the digital assistant among various other connected applications.
Apple has however, yet to release a statement on the updates or the patent application. It is yet to be determined if Apple will follow through their design plans or leave it to rest on paper.
