According to its co-founders, Humane, an American firm supported by Microsoft and Sam Altman, is expanding its international reach by introducing its smart pin to Japan and South Korea.
Based in San Francisco, The AI Pin from Humane was created by former Apple designers. It functions as a wearable, voice-activated smart assistant and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. It can also be fastened to clothing.
Natural, human-like dialogue is made possible by AI Pin by leveraging generative AI capabilities such as OpenAI's GPT 4 large language model.
At the Mobile World Congress trade exhibition in Barcelona, Humane unveiled the first generation of the device to the general public. A front-facing camera with real-time scene description, real-time translation, voice-activated fast searches, and a palm projector for displaying basic information are among the features.
The mobile chip juggernaut Qualcomm makes the fundamental processors for the pin. According to its developers, AI Pin may eventually replace several smartphone features. Smartphones are the most popular consumer electronics product worldwide in terms of shipments.
Imran Chaudhri, co-founder and chair of Humane, provided Nikkei Asia with an in-depth look at AI Pin during MWC. According to Chaudhri, the device is powered by CosmOS, an in-house operating system that functions both locally on the device and on cloud servers.
According to Humane's CEO and co-founder, Bethany Bongiorno, the gadget's operating system may select the best sources based on the query being posed. According to Bongiorno, it will direct questions about mathematics to Wolfram Alpha, a computational intelligence tool designed specifically for mathematical difficulties.
