Euro Truck Simulator 2 has canceled an upcoming Russia-themed expansion pack after the country invaded Ukraine, the game’s developer SCS Software has announced.
In a blog post, the Czech developer said that it had canceled the imminent release of the Heart of Russia DLC pack so that the firm is not perceived in any way as being in support of or tolerant of the aggression.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 has become a cult classic since its release in 2012, leading SCS Software to support it with over half a dozen major pieces of DLC in the years since. These downloadable packs have expanded the game’s map and added new countries for players to drive through.
Officially announced in March 2021, SCS Software said the Heart of Russia expansion pack would allow players to drive through the whole European country but aimed to reach the upper Volga river.
According to SCS Software, the Heart of Russia DLC was nearly six to eight weeks away from being complete on February 24th when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began.
In the blog post, SCS Software left the door open for the DLC to be released sometime later. The developer wrote in the blog post that when the time comes for Ukraine to heal and rebuild, the firm will endeavor to find a way for Heart of Russia DLC to play whatever part it could in the healing process for everyone.
