Game for Work's idea will help co-workers "pause and re-energize" in a virtual office set-up.
Tech giant Microsoft has added a brand new app called 'Games for Work' to Teams. This will allow the users to play casual multiplayer games together. The company has stated that up to 250 players can play games like; Microsoft Solitaire, Microsoft Minesweeper, Microsoft IceBreakers, and Microsoft Wordament with each other.
Different games have different features. With Solitaire, players will compete against each other to finish first, while with Minesweeper, players will be working together to clear the board with limited lives available. However, Wordament is a word game that gives work to your brain cells. In IceBreakers, players will answer questions about particular topics and will indeed learn more about their colleagues in the process. Microsoft will have a leaderboard to check where each player can see their stats and compare them with their co-workers.
Microsoft has worked with Microsoft Casual Games, an Xbox Game Studios division to develop these games. Microsoft indicates teams that play 45-minute games together are 20 percent more productive than those that don't. Microsoft in a recent report has stated that the idea behind developing the game is to help co-workers "pause and re-energize" in a virtual office set-up.
