The Pokémon Company has announced the ninth generation of Pokémon games during Nintendo’s Pokémon Presents presentation on Sunday. They’re named Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, arriving in late 2022.
At the end of The Pokémon Company’s Pokémon Day 2022’s Pokémon Presents 14-minute broadcast on Sunday, the video game franchise showcased a trailer of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. These two new Game Freak-developed games will be based in a new region and feature three new starter Pokémon. At the beginning of the latest generation of Pokémon games, trainers will need to choose between Grass-type Sprigatito, Fire-type Fuecoco, or the Water-type Quaxly.
The ninth generation of Pokémon games represents an “evolutionary” step for the Pokémon franchise and features an open game world where wilderness areas blend seamlessly without borders with various towns. The Pokémon Company also announced that Pokémon could be seen everywhere in the open game world, from the seas to the skies and on the streets.
While all the differences between the two versions of the game aren’t announced, it has been revealed that Pokémon Trainers will have access to a different outfit depending on the version of the game they are playing.
Pokémon Day celebrates the anniversary of the gaming franchise’s launch of their first-ever games in 1996, with Pokémon Green and Pokémon Red released in Japan.
