PlayStation to launch a new loyalty

Sony’s new PlayStation Stars loyalty program will launch in North and South America on October 5, 2022, the firm announced.

The latest program will allow PlayStation fans earn rewards like digital collectibles and points by doing things like playing a game or earning certain trophies.

Sony has also spelled out some of the finer details of the program; the service is free to join with an adult PlayStation Network account, and while users can earn some benefits if they are a PlayStation Plus member, a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to join Stars.

The complete PlayStation Stars experience will be available via the PlayStation mobile app but not consoles to start. In September 2022, Sony said that Stars would expand to consoles in the future.

Users can earn loyalty points and digital collectibles via PlayStation Stars. Points can be redeemed for PlayStation Store items and PSN funds.

The collectibles will include digital versions of characters and devices from PlayStation’s history, and users will be able to display them in a case in the PlayStation app.

Few of the collectibles will be “ultra-rare,” but it’s unclear exactly what it will take to get those.

PlayStation Stars is beginning to roll out now in Asia and will launch in Australia and Europe on October 13, 2022.
