Sony’s PlayStation VR2 to hit shelves in early 2023

Sony Entertainment Network’s posts on Instagram and Twitter say the firm’s PlayStation VR2 headset is coming in early 2023.

Sony Corporation’s entertainment subsidiary has been trickling information about the upcoming headset over the past several months. Now, eager customers have at least a timeframe for when they can expect to get their hands on the hardware.

Sony released details of the headset’s design earlier this year but has yet to announce the price. The firm is promising a lot for the PlayStation VR2. The VR2 features displays that have a 110-degree field of view, add up to 4K resolution and can run at 90 Hz or 120 Hz, and use foveated rendering, which renders certain parts of the image sharper than others to make things easier for the PlayStation 5. Sony also says the headset connects to the PlayStation console via a single USB C cable.

Sony Entertainment Network has announced the PlayStation VR2 will have a release lineup of nearly 20 major video game titles when the accessory launches early next year. The video game titles include games set in the Walking Dead and Horizon universes and VR versions of Resident Evil Village and No Man’s Sky.
