The Tattooist of Auschwitz benefited from exceptional visual effects by Union VFX which earned them a VES Award nomination for their photorealistic landscape effects.
The VFX team at Union VFX demonstrated their outstanding work in the creation of The Tattooist of Auschwitz for Peacock and Sky drama. The eight-framework story that draws its narrative from actual Holocaust survivors Lali and Gita Sokolov brings a sad yet inspiring tale about their survival. The meticulous digital environment work at the studio led to their nomination for the VES Award category of Outstanding Support Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode.
Digital precision was essential for the VFX team who recreated Auschwitz-Birkenau while they used atmospheric effects that included both fire and ash together with weather elements to boost the emotional impact of the series. Through their work they achieved an immersive narrative that delivered historical realism to the moving yet inspirational tale.
Union VFX worked steadily with Synchronicity Films to meet the visual objectives defined by Alan Church and Simon Giles and Claire Mundell. The studio dedicated its work to portraying the location respectably and achieved historical precision using extensive VFX methods.
Tali Shalom-Ezer directed this television series which Synchronicity Films produced with Claire Mudell as the lead producer under the joint production of Sky and Peacock. The Tattooist of Auschwitz became available for streaming on NOW in the UK while Peacock serves the US audience and Stan caters to viewers in Australia where audiences can watch this moving story about history with visual effects.
