Wordle is jumping from the phone to the board.
Hasbro collaborates with the New York Times, which owns the popular online word puzzle, to create “World: The Party Game.” The new board game “delivers characteristic Wordle gameplay but entirely new.
According to Adam Biehl, Hasbro Gaming’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hasbro collaborated with the New York Times to make a party board game after observing Wordle’s online popularity.
Biehl said that how many fun people were having posting the results on social media sparked their interest. Biehl added that’s when Hasbro knew that there was something special about it.
One of Hasbro’s fastest board game launches, “Wordle: The Party Game” looks ot a top seller for Hasbbro. Biehl said it took the team less than a year to create it. The new title fits into the firm’s pop-culture portfolio of games, including Monopoly editions based on “Bridgerton” and “Stranger Things.” Hasbro is paying the Times a licensing fee to use Wordle.
Hasbro’s board gaming studio created various games before landing on the one being released.
General Manager Biehl said they would start what they are trying to achieve authentic to the Wordle experience as much as possible because the firm wants to capture what got consumers interested in the game.
