Trump's administration blocked health agency messages which delayed updates on bird flu outbreaks and safety notifications.
The Trump administration told federal health agencies to stop sharing important health information to the public. Health officials across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH) now face concerns about the directive.
Under new requirements all agency releases must first pass through presidential appointees before they can be made public. While the new government conducts its health communication evaluation the pause on communications started on February 1.
Health experts say stopping important health updates can delay emergency responses to current bird flu outbreaks which protect public health. The CDC and FDA monitor health threats they track while emphasizing the need to share information quickly.
