House Speaker Mike Johnson pledges big changes to healthcare should Trump win, including potentially repealing Obamacare and other huge reforms.
Vice President Kamala Harris could stand to gain from recent comments made by House Speaker Mike Johnson who seemed to allude to “dramatic” changes in health care services should Donald Trump become victorious in the forthcoming elections. Johnson further asserted in Pennsylvania at a rally that his party would put an aggressive focus on changing healthcare systems as one of the legit motives of the GOP agenda.
One member of the crowd had asked about “no Obamacare,” in reference to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). “No, Obamacare,” Johnson answered adding that the ACA is embedded and has to be changed. This comment speaks to the Republicans’ determination to radically transform the current health care systems.
Polls indicate Harris leads Trump on healthcare in key states where it ranks lower as a voter concern. During a debate, Trump claimed he had plans to replace Obama's healthcare plan, which was previously attempted in a 2020 budget proposal.
As far as Democrats are concerned, more than 20 million people have gained coverage under the Affordable Care Act and reduced the level of uninsured in the country considerably. They also add that no one can be denied health care services based on any previous health condition which in turn contextually relates the ACA to the provision of health care services.
Now that health care appears to be one of the defining factors of the elections, those remarks by Johnson may provide an impetus to Democratic voters whose anxiety has been heightened by the issue of rollback on health care guarantees. The Democrats remain steadfast in their wish to protect and increase access to health care for all Americans.
