IBM inaugurates a fully-developed flagship office in NYC's One Madison Avenue, highlighting its dedication to innovation and community.
The global technology company IBM has achieved a major milestone with the official opening of its new flagship office at One Madison Avenue in New York City. Arvind Krishna, the CEO of IBM, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Governor Kathy Hochul of New York attended the September 6, 2024, ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Over 2,000 workers will be employed in the new, five-story, 270,000 square foot facility. Modern workspaces, including private, collaboration, and communal zones to accommodate different work types, are featured in the office, which was designed by international architecture company Gensler. A forty-foot Quantum Wave light sculpture and a twenty-five thousand square foot outdoor terrace with native plant species are the two most substantial features.
IBM has a long history of contributing to technological innovation and job creation, and Governor Hochul applauded the company's dedication to New York's economy. Senator Schumer stated the importance of the new office in establishing New York as a leader in technologically advanced areas like AI and quantum computing.
SL Green Realty Corp., the building's owner, acknowledged IBM's influence on the city's digital economy and expressed excitement in having the corporation here. By October 2024, the office—which houses IBM's former New York locations—should be fully occupied.
