The Weather Company that operates under IMB has officially been acquired by leading global investment firm, Francisco Partners.
Francisco Partners is a well-known international investment firm that focuses on working with technology companies. According to a definitive agreement that the two firms have signed, The Weather Company's assets will be acquired by Francisco Partners from IBM. The deal's specific terms weren't made public.
The Weather Company's consumer-facing digital products, The Weather Channel's mobile and cloud-based digital properties, such as Weather.com, Weather Underground, and Storm Radar, as well as its enterprise products for broadcast, media, aviation, advertising technology, and data solutions for other emerging industries, are among the assets being acquired by Francisco Partners. Additionally, The Weather Company will give Francisco Partners access to their platform for forecasting science and technology.

In order to assist clients in gathering, analyzing, reporting, and operationalizing ESG data for decision-making, performance enhancement, and compliance with regulations, IBM will continue to operate its sustainability software division, which includes the Environmental Intelligence Suite (EIS). The Weather Company's weather data will continue to be used by IBM for EIS, which covers a range of climate-related use cases.
