Apple releases new firmware update for AirTag, new features still unannounced

The latest release of AirTag firmware is version 1.0.291, and it features build number 1A291a.

Apple has started pushing a new firmware update to AirTags starting today. It may take few days to reach all the users, as it's a batched update. AirTag is a tiny Bluetooth tracker that seamlessly attaches to your everyday objects and can be located with your Apple devices. Bluetooth trackers aren't a new concept, but the biggest selling point for the AirTag is the Apples device ecosystem powering millions of devices that can locate these AirTags with great accuracy.

The new version of AirTag firmware comes two months after the previous release, which made improvements to anti-stalking features for the item trackers.Thelatest release of AirTag firmware is version 1.0.291, and it features build number 1A291a, which replaces the older AirTag firmware version 1.0.276 with build number 1A287b.

AirTags have been very popular, although a few have criticized it for going a little too far. Airtags could be used as spy devices if someone attachesthem to your vehicle or any other belonging. However, Apple quickly fixed this up by releasing an update, notifying a person if an unknown AirTag follows them.

This update will further improve the privacy features, although Apple hasn't officially updated the improvements. Or it could announce the new features in the iPhone launch event scheduled next month. Apple is also working on its Android version, which can notify AirTag users if any AirTag is following them.
